I have my vacation coming up in the first 2 weeks of June (FINALLY).

Where should this crispy extra-fried critter go?

Options include:
1. Playa del Carmen (or somewhere else in Mexico) - I was there last year and loved it
2. Someplace in the Caribbean.
3. Barcelona
4. Dubrovnik
5. Someplace I can't think of right now.

1. Out of the US
3. Did I mention cheap?
4. Warm, with froofy frozen drinks with umbrellas.

Lay on...

PS Anyone want to come along?

We had a fabulous time on a trip to St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands when we were a little fried and down a couple of years ago (and we came back to job offers, to boot). As I recall, it was not overly expensive. It was great fun.

The Yucatan peninsula, in Mexico.

Gorgeous beaches (oh, man, are they ever amazing), warm weather, cheap everything (as soon as you get more than a day away from Cancun, that is) and awesome archaeological sites.

Basically, you can go hang out and geek out over ruins, or you can go and hang out and go swimming and eat really good seafood, or whatever you want. There are small towns up and down the coastline and some of them are just gorgeous. I was about 15/16 when I was there, so I can't totally testify as to the quality of the froofy frozen drinks, but I imagine they're findable. ;)

At very least, the hubby and I would *love* to hang out with you. Sooner if possible, but if the beginning or end of your vacation is easier, that would be great too :)

Barcelona is AWESOME. Dubrovnik sounds kind of cool, though. What about the coast of Turkey? As far as I know, it's pretty reasonable.

Texas fits all those requirements. it is a foreign nation, after all. *grin*

Dubrovnik is totally awesome, and cheap by Euro-standards, though I think not compared to Latin America.

How about the Dominican Republic? Friends of mine went 2 years ago and absolutely loved it.
